"Postmodern media manipulates time and space". To what extent does this definition apply to texts you have studied?

Task 1 - Identify the TOPIC, ASPECT, VIEWPOINT and INSTRUCTION

TOPIC; Postmodern Media
Aspect; Texts you have studied
Viewpoint; Manipulates time and space
Instruction; To what extent does this definition

Task 2 - Decide upon your opinion. Can you express it clearly in 20 words?

postmodern ignores truth by mocking and manipulating a viewer’s view on reality. Inglourious basterds and Inception manipulates time and space by creating something fake.

Inglourious basterds
“realistic creation of a war film; film within a film”
Reference; sound of music
pastiche; they’re mocking existing war films, also imitates the work.
Opening “once upon time” at the beginning, is in your typical fairy-tale film = using different genres.
Can make your opinion change on what happened on the war. The director wanted viewers to know that it was fake, and used things deliberately.
Homage; it mocks the original war image.
Inception
It has many aspects of hyper-reality, because it’s so realistic is fake. You don’t know what sections a real or fake. It’s what we believe to be hyper real – the ending – we don’t know whether he wakes up or not.
Inception makes you question what reality is. The characters don’t know when they’re in a dream or not. The film is audience involved, and it leaves you wondering what reality is.
The inception sound track is the kick that what’s the characters up in their dream.
They’re in a dream within a dream within a dream.. questioning reality.
you can take influences from everywhere.

Task 3
Create a detailed plan listing your texts and specific examples
This is the essay structure you will always follow

Adverts

Normal and traditional adverts which are fake, don't want you to think that. However postmodern adverts aren't bothered about you knowing that the adverts aren't real, they let you know that the adverts are fake by having actors pretend to be something that they're not. The only thing that postmodern adverts is to make you aware that they are selling something. They show this through different ways, by telling you they're selling something, including products that don't relate to what they're selling, or just using recognisable texts.
They want you to know that it is fake, and they use the fact that its fake to sell the product.

This is the Dancing Babys - Evian Commercial from 2013.

This advert is postmodern, as its using dancing babies, visual effects and upbeat music to sell bottled water. It makes the brand 'Evian' look cool and will want people to want to buy bottled water.

This is the; Think Blue. Baby Television Advert by Volkswagen.

This advert is trying to show the "stop, start" technology in cars, and they have used babies to show this

This is the Barclay Card Advert -

This advert doesn't have anything which related the Barclay's Cards, however he's showing that its quick and easy to use and trying to show that the "Barclays" company is a good place to be signed up for. Its an advert which you'll remember.
